Introducing: CityView PlansDrop
September 14, 2020

CityView PlansDrop provides business continuity for the new normal. It is a safe, cost-effective service for municipalities to efficiently receive permit and development plans digitally from constituents and contractors.

Current challenges

Many municipalities still require multiple copies of printed plans to accompany planning or permitting applications. This is costly for the applicant and cumbersome to manage for the municipalities. In the era of COVID-19, transmission risks make it necessary to avoid physically touching documents. This is hard when many municipalities still have their doors closed to the public and are offering post boxes for the purposes of collecting hard copy plans from contractors.

Some municipalities have agreed to accept digital plan sets by email. The attachments are often too large for mail servers and cannot be delivered. Further, with the growing need to protect personally identifiable information from public disclosure, email deliveries should be avoided completely. It is all but impossible to know if an email has been accessed or routed across international borders, before it arrives at the recipient. Others municipalities make use of commercially available file transfer sites but these offer no assurance of secure data residency.

Under these circumstances, maintaining business continuity for both municipalities and the customers they serve is a challenge.

How does CityView PlansDrop help?

CityView PlansDrop is a cloud-based solution that is exclusively offered to address these challenges. Contractors and applicants can easily register with PlansDrop and deliver their plans electronically and municipalities can receive these from anywhere they have an internet connection, with the assurance that only they can access the files. It is elegant, simple to use and eliminates transmission fears, physical post boxes, file size issues and travel considerations. What’s more, the solution offers the ability for customers to track all their submissions in one place and for municipalities to manage their online intakes for verification.

What does it cost?

The PlansDrop service is completely free for those that want to submit plans to the jurisdictions they do business with. CityView offers the first 15GB of data storage at no charge to municipalities that subscribe. A modest monthly fee applies if the data storage exceeds 15GB at any time during the calendar month.

CityView PlansDrop assures that contractor’s files are received securely and safely. Customers can upload the files from their own offices and avoid numerous expenses in the process. Municipalities receive the files without having to put themselves in harm’s way and knowing that the size of the file will not be a concern. All this is offered and can be maintained without incurring any costs. Is your organization ready to resume efficient business in the new normal?
