The City of Kingston, ON Goes Live on CityView 9

Kingston, ON and Victoria, BC - February 10, 2011: We're pleased to announce that the City of Kingston, ON recently went live with our CityView Community Development solution.

Kingston, Ontario is a Canadian city located in Eastern Ontario where the St. Lawrence River flows out of Lake Ontario. Originally a First Nations settlement called "Katarowki," (Ga-ta-row-key), growing European exploration in the 17th Century made it an important trading post. In order to control the fur trade, French explorer LaSalle founded Fort Frontenac in 1673.

Located midway between Toronto and Montreal, Kingston was named the first capital of the Province of Canada on February 15, 1841, by Governor Lord Sydenham. While its time as a political centre was short, Kingston remained an important military installation.

Kingston is the county seat of Frontenac County. According to the 2006 Canadian census, the population of the city proper was 117,207, while the population of the metropolitan area was 152,358. The City is an eclectic mix of old and new "where history and innovation thrive." For more information, please visit http://www.cityofkingston.ca/index.asp.

CityView has been in use by the City since 2002. Building on the successful upgrade of their Business License processes, in December of 2010 Kingston successfully completed the upgrade of its CityView 8 Contractor Licensing system to the new CityView 9 Licensing PreBuilt. The next phase of the project will include the upgrade of Building Permits, Bylaw Enforcement and Property Standards processes (expected to be live in March).

"I am excited to see the City take advantage of all the new functionality that CityView 9 PreBuilts has to offer. As a long standing CityView customer, Kingston employees have shown their vision and commitment to continuously providing exceptional customer service to their citizens by finding ways to streamline their processes while realizing further efficiencies," said Steve Favalaro, Regional Sales Director for CityView.

The following features offer an enhancement to the previous version:

  1. Document Attachments such as insurance records, certificate of qualifications, pictures, etc. compliment the delivery of service moving forward
  2. The information is clear and concise for users (Licensing and Building) to identify specific information related to the business or plumber
