The City of Quinte West, Ontario becomes CityView’s first hosted client in Canada
CityView is proud to announce the City of Quinte West, Ontario as the company’s first hosted client in Canada. CityView’s cloud-based offering is ideal for municipalities with limited IT resources or those looking to reduce IT costs. CityView takes care of the hosting and software management, freeing up staff for other critical duties. Municipalities choose a subscription solution for several reasons; some of the most common being:

- Easier administration for IT staff
- Security of data
- Reliable infrastructure in a professionally managed data center
As part of the project, CityView also provided integration with G-mail. This delivers similar functionality to CityView’s MS Outlook Add-in.
Will Smith, Application Support Technician for Quinte West, cites the City’s reasons for choosing a hosted solution: “Going with Harris’ hosted solution has allowed us to up our internal security, take away an attack vector and rely on CityView expertise to keep their system secure. As an added benefit, we’ve also noticed an increase in speed on our mobile system.”
Quinte West uses CityView Property Information to view location-based activity at a glance; CityView Permits & Inspections to meet inspection targets and reduce data entry; and CityView Bylaw Enforcement to streamline and increase the efficiency of the permit application, approval and inspection processes.
Quinte West also upgraded its technology by migrating to Workspace, providing staff with a clean, modern browser interface and an intuitive, user-assist design. So far, “Our users like the upgraded look, feel and functionality of Workspace compared to the old Desktop system,” says Will. “The ability to look at multiple permits at the same time is a key feature for us.”
