The holiday season is a time of giving and at CityView, we took that spirit to heart during our annual holiday party in Victoria last month. We are excited to share the success of our holiday giving program, where CityView matched all employee donations to three incredible Canadian charitable organizations, for a total contribution of $1,700.

In the face of increasing challenges in our communities, CityView stepped up to support a Victoria-based food bank, the Victoria Humane Society, and FIRST Robotics BC. These organizations play crucial roles in addressing various needs, from combating hunger to rescuing animals and inspiring the next generation of young minds in science and technology.

Fighting hunger with heart

In response to the alarming statistics from Food Banks Canada, which reported a 32% increase in food bank usage in 2023 compared to March 2022 and a staggering 78.5% increase compared to March 2019, CityView directed a portion of our donation towards a local food bank. These numbers underscore the importance of our collective efforts to alleviate hunger, especially among the vulnerable, with one in three food bank clients in Canada being children.

Supporting furry friends

The Victoria Humane Society (VHS) holds a special place in our hearts. This small community group tirelessly works to find loving homes for animals rescued from neglect, starvation and abuse. By contributing to VHS, we are part of the solution, making a positive impact on the lives of these animals and supporting the dedicated individuals who make it their mission to care for them.

Empowering future innovators

FIRST Robotics BC is an organization dedicated to inspiring young minds to explore opportunities in science, technology and engineering. Our donation aims to encourage the pursuit of further studies and careers in these fields, nurturing the next generation of innovators who will shape the future.
