The City of Beaumont, Alberta, has selected CityView to move its permitting, planning, licensing and cashiering functions onto a centralized digital platform, replacing manual and paper-based processes.
Beaumont sits just southeast of Edmonton and has grown from a small farming community into one of the fastest-growing municipalities in the region. It is one of only four bilingual communities in Alberta, and a downtown design bylaw requires new buildings to reflect a French-village character, giving the city a distinct identity among its neighbors.
Beaumont also has one of the youngest populations in Canada, with a median age of 35. That younger, digitally fluent population expects government services to be available around the clock, a standard the city’s existing manual processes could not support.
Before this project, permitting and planning work at the city relied heavily on paper files, email and manual routing between departments. That created processing delays, made it hard to keep data consistent across systems, and left applicants with limited visibility into the status of their submissions.
Beaumont's goals for this project centered on removing those bottlenecks: automating review and approval routing, giving residents and businesses a self-service way to track applications, and building a single, reliable source of data for staff and reporting.
CityView will provide a hosted, managed solution supporting Permits and Inspections, Planning, Business Licensing and Cashiering. The implementation includes:
CityView Portal, giving residents, businesses and contractors 24/7 online access to submit applications, pay fees and check real-time application status
CityView Electronic Plans Review, moving plan submission and review out of paper and email
CityView Mobile, supporting inspectors and staff working in the field
The city will also use CityView's Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word integrations, letting staff manage correspondence and generate documents directly from the systems they already use daily, without switching platforms.
Beaumont is CityView's second new-name customer win of the year and the latest in a growing list of Alberta municipalities using the platform, including Leduc, Spruce Grove, Fort Saskatchewan and Parkland County. Beaumont selected CityView through a competitive procurement process, and the decision reflects a broader pattern: as Alberta communities modernize permitting and planning, they are increasingly turning to a platform already proven across the region.
