The Rebuilt CityView Portal: What's New and What's Coming Next

Written by Farrell R. Clancy | Mar 26, 2026 9:38:19 PM

Local government technology moves fast. Resident expectations for digital services are higher than ever, accessibility standards continue to evolve and the push to integrate modern tools, including AI, is no longer a future consideration.

The CityView Portal was built to meet that moment. Version 2026.4 introduces the first milestone release of a fully redesigned Portal, rebuilt from the ground up on a modern technology foundation that supports a better user experience today and positions the platform for what comes next.

A New Foundation, Built for What Comes Next

Version 2026.4 introduces the first milestone release of the fully redesigned CityView Portal, rebuilt from the ground up on Blazor, a modern Microsoft web framework. The technology change is not cosmetic. It removes the architectural constraints that limited what the Portal could do and establishes a foundation that supports faster feature development, stronger security standards, better accessibility and readiness for modern integrations, including AI.

For IT teams, this matters because it means the Portal is no longer working against the direction your broader technology environment is moving. For end users, it means a platform that can keep pace with how work actually gets done.

What's Different When You Log In

The most immediate changes are visible in the interface itself.

My Items has been redesigned as My Dashboard, giving users a single, consolidated view of all applications, fees and inspections. If you have ever had to navigate between screens to track the status of a submission, this addresses that directly.

The application process has a cleaner, more intuitive interface built to reduce friction on common tasks. Search and filtering have been improved across the Portal, so finding a specific record or piece of information takes less time.

The overall experience is faster and more responsive, a direct result of the underlying technology change.

What's Included in This Release

The 2026.4 release supports the following CityView solutions: Permits and Inspections, Planning, Code/Bylaw Enforcement, Licensing and GIS/Mapping.

Supported payment gateway integrations include Paymentus, Invoice Cloud and Bambora/Worldline. Note that new endpoints will need to be configured for payment gateways.

If your organization relies on functionality not listed above, we recommend using this release for testing and evaluation until additional features are available. It should not replace your existing production Portal at this time.

For IT and Technical Staff

Install instructions will be available in the CityView Connect Release Notes for version 2026.4 next week. Organizations interested in Portal customization should submit a Feedback for a quote.

What Comes Next

This release is the first milestone in an ongoing development roadmap. More functionality is on the way, and the rebuilt foundation means new features can be delivered more quickly and reliably than before.
