CityView Clients Honored for Innovation
Victoria, British Columbia, November 20, 2003
Municipal Software Corporation, the developer of CityView, local government business process automation software, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Municipal Solutions Group, Inc. (TSX-V:MSM), is proud to announce that CityView clients the District of Langford, British Columbia and the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) are winners of the 2003 CityView User Conference Enterprise Awards.
The District of Langford was honored for excellence in the Most Extensive Enterprise Solution category for its comprehensive use of CityView across most of its municipal departments. Langford's extensive use of CityView allows different departments to use the software for tracking most of their business processes, from Business License approval to Fire Dispatch.
According to Mike Palmer, Network Administrator for the District, "this award is a tribute to how well we manage our data, how closely we work together sharing this data as an organization and how efficiently we use CityView to keep us that way. It also illustrates to our Mayor and Council how we have a system in place that keeps staff costs down while providing the best possible productivity which in turn means that we can give Langford residents more for their tax dollars."
The NJMC received honors in the Most Extensive In-House Development category for truly taking advantage of CityView's uniqueness as an application development tool. Over the years the NJMC has progressed from using CityView for 41 forms and seven reports to today's 112 forms and 30 reports. The NJMC uses CityView to manage the business processes for GIS Request Tracking, Public Records, Escrows, Bonds and Letters of Credit, Certificates and Notices and for their Technical Support Log.
According to Adrian Molato, GIS Specialist, "The NJMC is proud to receive this award from Municipal Software. Since the basis of this award was for in-house development, credit should be reciprocated to the CityView development team for creating an environment that is conducive to independent database and form development. To get to this point in development and achieve recognition for it is a testament to the scalability of the program as well as its straightforward and effortless functionality."
The 10th Annual CityView User Conference was held in Toronto, Canada from November 5th to 7th and included a keynote presentation from Cathilea Robinett, Executive Director of the Center for Digital Government. Ms. Robinett has served as a thought leader and adviser to industry, government and education officials, helping them develop sound strategies for the Digital Age. She addressed issues of concern to local government administrators, including the importance of using technology to manage Homeland Security concerns.
In keeping with the conference's "Integrating the Enterprise" theme, the conference addressed issues specific to CityView users and to broader local government stakeholders, including homeland security, disaster management and the looming retirement crisis and its impact on enterprise management in local government. The CityView User Conference also included presentations by industry experts from Microsoft, Acer and ICMA Retirement Corporation, as well as staff presentations and client showcases from CityView clients such as the City of Ontario, CA, the City of Keene, NH, the City of Huntington Beach, CA and the Town of Aurora, ON.
