County of Kane, Illinois to Implement Municipal Software's CityView System
Municipal Software Corporation, a leading developer of local government business process automation software, announced today that the County of Kane, IL has purchased CityView to automate their building permits, zoning and subdivisions, transportation permits, well and septic permits, restaurant licensing and complaint tracking systems. The total value of the contract is $342,000 (US). The County of Kane is located near Chicago. It has a population of approximately 320,000.
The integrated system will provide the County with the ability to automate the wide range of functions listed above and share the information out on a county-wide basis. The total project will be implemented in phases with the initial phases of the project to be completed by February 2002 and the final phases completed in May 2002.
The County will be using an MS SQL Server on the backend and intends to use CityView to share information over the Web. They will begin by offering moving permits over the Internet and will expand what citizens are able to do from there. The County will continue to use the current inspection process, however, a future phase will use scanable forms in the field that will feed data into CityView through the use of OCR. But, a move to wireless Web access and handheld devices will follow. The County will also be integrating CityView with their GIS systems via MapObjects. A future phase will include integration using ArcView. The County plans to deploy this information over the Web using ArcIMS with future versions of CityView.
Rob Bennett, President of Municipal Software commented, "Winning the County of Kane as a client is very exciting for us for several reasons. First, the scope of the project will make the County one of our true corporate solutions and one of our most important reference clients. Second, their planned extensive use of the Internet for internal and citizen use will lead the way for other CityView clients. Third, the value of the project is one of the bigger ones the Company has realized. We are looking forward to a successful implementation and the deployment of CityView's E-government capabilities."
